Coaching Staff

Calen Janesky - Gold 3, Bronze 1 Assistant

Coach Calen is joining for her first full competitive season this Fall 2023.  She has been working with NCAP's Developmental and Swim School programs since January 2020. During the Summer of 2023, she assisted Coach Andy with the AU Bronze 1 program and found her passion for coaching at the club level.  Calen has been in a leadership position with NCAP since Fall of 2022, working as a Swim School Deck Manager and the Developmental Director at AU.  

Calen is originally from Arizona and began swimming in summer league from a young age. She swam for her high school's varsity swim team for all four years of high school and served as one of the captains her Junior and Senior year of high school. In the Summer of 2016, she started coaching for her local summer swim league and continued that up until 2020. Calen recently graduated from American University in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.  Outside of coaching, she enjoys rock climbing and hiking with friends in her spare time.

Mary Dowling - Bronze 1, Bronze 2

Coach Mary started with NCAP in 2006.  She is currently the head site coach at our Holton Arms site and coaches the Bronze I and Bronze II groups.  Mary began her coaching career at The Edgemoor Club where she was the head coach from 1996-2016.  Mary is a graduate of Villanova University where she was a member of the 1992 and 1993 Big East Championship team.  At the 1993 Big East Championship, Mary was named Most Outstanding Swimmer.  Mary was the third woman in Big East history to have 9 individual championship titles and was the Villanova record holder in the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle.  Mary was World ranked in the 1500 free in 1991 and qualified for the 1992 Olympics Trials.
