Stephen Clendenin

Head Coach - Dulles South

Stephen Clendenin is starting his fifth season with NCAP. He has been a competitive swimmer since he was 9 years old and has been swimming in Northern VA since 2001. He graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2011 with a degree in English. During his college career, he was awarded the Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year for three consecutive years and he was Rookie of the Year his freshman year. He went undefeated in all his individual conference races, went to the NCAA Division III Championships all four years of college and is a six-time All-American athlete. After graduating college, he coached at Saint Vincent College in western PA for two years, helping that team to two winning seasons. Stephen returned to coaching and swimming PVS in 2013 and competed in eight different National-level meets, including Summer and Winter Nationals and the Arena Pro Swim Series. In 2015, he won the high point award at the Eastern Sectional Meet. He is an ASCA Level 2 coach, has been coaching club for 15 years, and coached summer league for 12 years. Stephen is passionate about swimming; his goal as a coach is always to share that passion and to help his athletes find their own love of the sport. He loves coaching and has a lifelong commitment to be the best coach he can be.

Veronica Wolff

Veronica Wolff fell in love with swimming at the age of 5 and never looked back. She swam for the FISH, McLean High School, and Williams College. At Williams she was a 4-time DIII NCAA qualifier, 4-time all conference athlete, 4-time scholar athlete, and an All-American in the 200 Fly. In the summers during college, Veronica took her love of swimming out of the water and on to the pool deck as a coach for the Chesterbrook Tiger Sharks and for Purple Valley Aquatics—in Williamstown, MA. After graduating from college, Veronica worked as a math teacher and coach at Indian Mountain School. Outside of pool, Veronica loves to stay active by hiking, biking, and running. She loves to cook and bake, is training for a triathlon, and plans to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2022.

Luke Bergstrom

Luke Bergstrom will be joining us for his first year of coaching with NCAP, and his 17th year of competitive swimming. Luke swam competitively on NCAP Claude Moore starting in High School through college. Coach Luke has been the Head Coach for the ODSL team, The Belmont Sharks for the past 2 years. Coach Luke is a recent graduate of the University of Mary Washington where he swam on the college team for 4 years; swimming backstroke and IM. While at Mary Washington, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Digital Studies. Coach Luke is excited to coach with NCAP and looks forward to working with swimmers of all ages and swim levels. In his free time, Coach Luke enjoys spending time with his family, and his pet fish.

Tiffany M. Quash

Dr. Tiffany M. Quash has had a successful coaching career in California since 2010 with high school and club teams. In 2017, she decided to stop coaching to complete her doctorate at Indiana University. In 2019, Dr. Quash delivered a TEDx talk, “Learning to Swim is a Human Right '' in Bloomington, Indiana

(link) as a part of TEDxBloomingtonWomen, and completed her doctorate in 2020. Dr. Quash’s dissertation, “Phenomenal Black Mermaids: The Experiences of Black Womyn Collegiate Swimmers”, prompted conversations on the experiences of Black Womyn Collegiate Swimmers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and primary white Institutions. Outside of her research and publications, Dr. Quash will be the Developmental Coach at NCAP Dulles South.

Ola K. Alighazzouli

Ola K. Alghazzouli is an ACE certified personal trainer, functional fitness specialist, and a swim instructor. She graduated from George Mason University with a B.S in Biology and Health Promotion minor. She learned how to swim at age 6 in Damascus, Syria, and she absolutely loves being by the water. Although she never joined any competitive swimming teams in the past, she was a track and field athlete in her junior and senior years in high school. In summer 2020, she launched her own social media campaign to speak about swimming for Muslim women, especially, women like her who wear the hijab and sometimes faces obstacles in the arena. She wanted to share her story as well as the story of other women to inspire and to bring further representation and diversity. She also spoke about the impact of swimsuit and body image for swimmers as how important it is for coaches to be mindful of their athletes. To watch the replay, please click this link to watch the highlights. Ola loves to play soccer, swimming, bike rides, and she hopes to be able to complete a full triathlon one day. She is currently a swim instructor at George Mason University, SwimBox, and LetSwim. She also teaches water aerobics at GMU and through LetSwim. Ola also worked as part-time swim instructor at King Abduallah Academy (KAA) to teach elementary school students basic skills of swimming. She is looking forward to

working with young athletes, parents, and other coaches at NCAP to continue empowering others into the world of swimming!
