John Flanagan
John Flanagan
Gold PM
John Flanagan has been coaching for more than 50 years at the USS Age Group, Senior, and Masters level. He began coaching in Potomac Valley in 1971 where he has coached Open Water swimmers, College Level swimmers, and Junior/Senior National swimmers. Coach John has been named to several National and Junior National teams and was named the YMCA Coach of the Year in 1990 along with the Swim Swam Coach of the Year (Age Group) in 2013 and NCSA Coach of the Year in 2015. Coach John has been chosen for the Swimming World Championship staff (1986, 1994, 1998), USA Pac Pacific Games staff (1995), NCSA staff - Ireland (2010), NSCA staff - Japan (2012), World Youth staff (2013), and World University Games staff (2015). He has coached over 100 National, Jr. National, NCSA, and National YWCA first place finishes since 1983. Coach John will be coaching the Gold PM group.

Jeremy Cochran

Jeremy Cochran began with NCAP Tysons in 2018. Coach Jeremy is originally from Morristown, NJ. He attended West Virginia University and graduated with a B.S. in Sport Psychology. He was a multiple sport athlete and swam through high school as well as summer league in Morristown. Coach Jeremy has been working with swimmers for 20+ years starting as a swim instructor before moving into the competitive field. He spent a season as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ before heading into the club coaching world. Coach Jeremy spent 2 years as the Head Novice Coach with the Greenwich YMCA Marlins before taking the Age Group Coach position with the Greenwich Dolphins for 7 years. He was also named Associate Head Coach the last 4 years. He was named the 2014 CT Age Group Coach of the Year and nominated for the award again in 2018. During his time with the Dolphins, he has had many athletes compete on the National scene. He has coached multiple Olympic trials and National Qualifiers. He developed a 4-time National Age Group Record holder as well as many State and Zone Champions. Coach Jeremy was part of the 2018 National Diversity Select Camp coaching staff and has had swimmers selected for the National Select and Zone Select Camps. Coach Jeremy will be coaching the Gold AM group and assisting with the all the other groups as needed.

Kelly Rose McCullough will begin her 5th year with NCAP and her 11th year coaching. Coach Kelly Rose began her coaching career at the age of 16 for her local YMCA swim team in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration Management and Accounting, she went to work in Sioux Falls, SD for the Sioux Falls Snowfox Swim Team as the Head Age Group Coach and Administrative Assistant. Well coaching there she served as the Head Zones Coach (2012, 2013, 2014) and Head All-Star Coach (2013, 2015) for Team South Dakota. In 2015, she moved to the DC area and worked at the FISH as their Head Mini FISH Coach and an assistant Senior Coach. Currently, she is the Head Coach for the Highlands Swim Team in the NVSL. This season Coach Kelly Rose will be working with Silver 1 and Gold Prep.

Sydney is entering her 7th season coaching and 3rd season with NCAP. She is a proud Eagle both from Bridgewater College and American University with degrees in Political Science, French, Public Administration, and Policy. She grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti where she spent her childhood swimming and continued to swim with the former YMCA Alexandria Sea Dragons then at Bridgewater College. Sydney enjoys the process of swimming and is eager to share that joy with others as they work together to reach their goals. In her free time, Sydney considers herself to be a globetrotter, she dreams of one day visiting all 7 continents.
Kara McElveen

Kara McElveen began coaching with Nation's Capital Swim Club in 1999. She has also coached in local summer leagues (including the NVSL, CSL, and DCCL) since the late 90s. Most recently, she was the Head Coach for the Great Falls Rapids summer swim team. In addition to coaching, she is an Instructional Coach at Westlawn Elementary in Fairfax County. When not at the pool or school, Coach Kara spends time with her husband and 2 children. Coach Kara will be coaching Bronze 2 this season.
